Location: Kawaza Primary School, Rumphi District, Malawi
Goal: $12,500
At Dorika Foundation, we believe education is a right, not a privilege. Yet for the 770 children at Kawaza Primary School in Rumphi District, northern Malawi, learning comes with daily hardship. Fewer than 50 learners have desks, while the vast majority sit on cold, dusty cement floors. When it rains, classrooms become damp and uncomfortable, leaving children shivering, distracted, and unable to concentrate on their lessons.
Recently, Dorika Foundation successfully provided 110 school uniforms to boys and girls at Kawaza, including learners with disabilities. We saw firsthand how small interventions restore dignity, boost confidence, and bring joy to children who need it most. The students’ smiles and renewed commitment to learning proved that change is possible when we come together.
Now, our next mission is to ensure that every child at Kawaza Primary School has a desk. With $12,500, we will procure and deliver durable classroom desks so that every learner has a proper place to sit, write, and study comfortably.
A desk may seem like something small—but to these children, it means the difference between learning in discomfort and learning with pride.
